All Things Considered….we have very little to complain about.

04 Feb

This has been an interesting week in North Texas. Speculation is rampant that no more Super Bowls will ever be scheduled for this area since we have had Snow Thunder, Ice Storms, Snow Storms, Frigid 20 degree F weather for most of this week and inadequate road clearing on top of all the other inconveniences. Mind you, I am not complaining.  We had a very nice enjoyable week at home with several good books, a working Ham Station, enabling propagation and when all else fails we had TV. The only down side for us will be paying the huge Natty Gas bill for heating we almost certainly will have to face at the end of this billing cycle. Yet, that is nothing compared to most of the North American experience this winter. So “Shut My Mouth” and enjoy the blessings of winter.

On top of all of the weather curiosities this week I have managed to waste sufficient time that none of my “Job Jar” items have left the “Too Do” pile and moved into the “Completed” pile. Not to worry, they will be very much in evidence whenever I get around to them. Manana! Meanwhile I have birds to feed, Morse to practice and lounging to get done immediately. Cabin Fever does strange things to the motivation of Old Folks after a week of being cooped up. 🙂

4 February 2011. Nice dry snowfall on top of the ice!

Thanks for reading my Blog. Best, Chas W5PG

Hi Chas, a little bit of cabin fever doesn’t make you a dissatisfied man. As long there are good folks around and a working station, there is nothing wrong. 😉 Our wx: strong winds here, and temperature 10 C, and no snow around. Have a good weekend, 73 Paul

Good morning Chas, yes I was shocked to see Texas with snow and ice…but I guess it’s the global warming thing. Sure would be nice to have a little global warming up this way. To start out the winter it was 3 feet of snow but seems as time has past the global warming gods are smiling on us up here. The temp’s this week are in the positive. By Friday we are looking at plus 10C. Well Chas this weekend is the ARRL CW DX maybe our QRP signal will make it too Texas.

That snow and ice cut into my fitness program big time Mike! One day I was walking early (before sunrise) and missed a patch of black ice and fell on my keester! Long time since that has happened. Its now 59 F this morning and has been in the 70’s almost all week. Just amazing fluctuations in the temps here. Hope you get to spring without too many ice dams on the roof! Best, Chas
