Dipole Dies! Where is that Health Care vote?

19 Nov

My all purpose dipole is on life support. Winds, wear and tear and trees have finally done it in-at least one side of it. As a result, I will be rebuilding my all band dipole from aluminum sections that I purchased from DX Engineering. Their tubes were pre slotted and therefore less hassle to make up a long element than had I used Texas Towers tubes. Price was right and shipping done very professionally with no shipping damage at all. The new antenna will be between 60 and 62 feet long. It will be fed with the same choke and balanced line setup. I have not modeled it completely yet so I do not know if I need to attach small vertical end pieces to tune up the feedpoint impedance. I hope to be completed next week when we will have some son in law help here to assist. News at eleven as they say on TV. I will be better equipped to use the lower bands in the future as I am adding about 10 feet of dipole length.

Thanks for reading my blog. Best, Chas W5PG
